Every blogger wants to build a personal identity online; it wouldn’t be possible without SEO. It is vital for any website’s success. If you are a newbie to blogging, you might be familiar with the term and its basics.

I will not repeat all the same fundamentals of SEO because you can find them all over the internet from SEO ninjas. I will share some SEO hacks that you might not have known as a newbie blogger.

Don’t stick to the traditional SEO Practice

Aspiring digital marketers used to get a top spot in the SEO game with a set of formulaic moves. But today, the game is different. Search engine optimization has evolved to such extent that it very nearly outdoes the real-world marketing.

Modern SEO is dynamic, and almost anything could work for it, but that’s not a guarantee that everything will. You can play it wisely by sticking with the tried and tested basics like keyword researching, crafting compelling content, site optimization, social media marketing, link building, etc. But if you want to stand out, do the things with a little twist. It will help you shoot to the top of the charts.

Make SEO-friendly URL

The URL is the address of your blog post that you see at the top of the page. This post, for example, has the URL “https://poundingtechno.com/little-known-seo-hacks-for-new-bloggers/.” It is an example of the URL that google likes, and it is SEO-friendly. Now, let’s check out the examples of the worst URLs.

Or

In both examples, the mysterious numbers show nothing about what the post is likely to contain. Don’t mess the things up in making the URL. Put your blog title in it with “-“to separate the words. In this way, people can get a little extra hint in the search results as to what they are clicking on. Avoid adding numbers in the URL and keep it clean and simple.

Place the alt tags in images

We often overlook to add the tags in the photos and add them only to give an excellent visual appeal to a blog post. Image alt tags are also a ranking factor that count in SEO. Use your keywords in image alt tags and optimize them wisely. Like if you are adding a featured image for the topic “step by step SEO guide for beginners” add the keyword SEO guide for beginners in the URL and alt tag.

Focus on the word count in each heading

Google loves to snippet those contents that are well organized and clear. While writing your content, add headings H1, H2, H3, and so on and keep them within 60 to 70 words. Be specific, write short and clear sentences without lowering the quality. Make sure you give some out of the box ideas in your content that can never be found on any other site. Use bullet points or numbers to separate the headings.

Add Table of contents in the blog posts

Table of contents is the summary of your blog, which helps Google to recognize that your content deserves to be in the snippet. If you have discussed ten ways of something, then make Table of contents and add the headings of all ten points in it. Google will add those points in the snippet if you craft your content elegantly.

Be smart with the Keywords

SEO is all about keywords; we all know that. But how you can win in this keyword game? All you need is some creativity. Research your keywords wisely by using SEO tools like Ahref, Ubersuggest, and alike. You can also use google trends to see which keywords are heating up on the internet. Find all the possible keywords that are related to your topic and place them in your content naturally. Avoid keyword stuffing and try to be creative. Check your keyword density once you have done with your content. You can use the SEO quake extension to check the keyword density. Make sure your keyword appears in the title, Meta tags, and with the maximum density in the content body.

Up your Backlinking game

Backlinks are essential for SEO but earning them is a daunting task. When you are a newbie, making backlinks from the high authority sites is pretty much impossible, but don’t lose hope. Try some different tricks. Connect with your fellow bloggers and contribute a guest post to their website. Find forums related to your topics and place the link of your blog there. Submit press releases, signup to PR sites like HARO and help reporters in their research. Use Quora, Reddit, and post blogs to web 2.0 to create backlinks.

Final Note

Keep in mind that SEO requires time, so you have to be patient with it. Don’t get obsessed with researching keywords on google to know if your post is ranking or not. Make sure you write only the contents that are related to your blog niche. It helps you rank even faster. Remember that ranking also depends on the site’s age, so as a newbie, you will have to wait a bit longer to appear on the first page.
